Matt | University of Missouri

Updated: Nov 25

Matt started his time at Mizzou unsure what his campus involvement would be. His brother was in a fraternity on campus and was eagerly trying to convince Matt to join. The first week of school Matt met Will through the same fraternity his brother was in. Will was on staff with StuMo and had been leading Bible studies in this fraternity for years.

As Matt got to know Will, he began to notice a joy and peace in him that was different from what he saw around campus. Will was living with a purpose and a sense of fulfillment that intrigued Matt, and he wanted to learn more. Over the next few weeks, Matt and Will became close friends, reading the Bible together and discussing what it looked like to follow Jesus. During his first semester of college, Matt began a relationship with Christ. God continued to use Will to help Matt become established in his faith. That Spring semester, Will helped Matt start and lead an investigative Bible study on his dorm floor.

For the next three years, Matt committed to staying in the dorms, seeking to serve and share Christ with the guys on his floor. He led several Bible studies and had the opportunity to share the gospel with many of his peers. During his junior year, Matt met Jake, a freshman who had little to no faith background but shared Matt’s love for the outdoors. Through their growing friendship, Matt began to walk Jake through the Bible, just as Will had done for him. Over the course of several months, Jake’s understanding of God deepened, and he went from someone who wasn't even sure that there was a God to a saving faith in Jesus as he made the decision to begin a relationship with Christ in light of His sacrifice for Jake on the cross.

Now in Matt's senior year, Matt and Jake are living together in the dorms, serving guys, sharing Christ with them and leading more investigative Bible studies. They are passionate about sharing Christ with others, and the name of Jesus continues to spread across the campus through their leadership.
